Welcome to “Peer Review Practice” – A blog for exchange of critical ideas and good practices
“Peer review” can take many forms and serve many purposes. From evaluation of
- proposals or applications,
- through appraisal of work in progress or interim results,
- to assessment of program success, final work products, or manuscripts’ suitability for publication,
“peers” often are called upon to review work of their “equals” based upon selected evaluation criteria.
Peer review has been decried for many faults, but also is recognized as the best tool we have for timely and affordable expert review. This blog is intended as a vehicle for the “peer review community of practice” to critically evaluate its techniques and practices.
I invite your contributions, with the simple goals of improving the effectiveness of Peer Review (faster, better, cheaper) and improving awareness of and communication within the diverse community of peer review practitioners. Please comment, post your own, or send me your posting, relevant link, or your thoughts on an issue.
